Meditation

Samurai Meditation Chair by Zen by Design

Meditation has a profound effect on your overall well-being.  As you slow your mind, you slow your body.  Your mind begins to focus on other, more positive, experiences and having a designated space to meditate helps keep those positive thoughts flowing.
Zen by Design creates chairs with both form and function in mind.  As you sink into the chair, you will feel the lumbar support made to sustain your time in lotus position.

Movement

When thinking of relaxing, movement may not be in your top 5 of things to do.  However, we're not talking about running a marathon here.  Just get up and move.  Go for a walk, weather-permitting.  Listen to music and dance.  A simple change of scenery can distract from the current stressors.

Greenery

Plants reduce stress.  They are also known for cleaning the air in your home, enhancing memory and being overall just pretty to look at.  The bamboo palm, pictured here, is also non-toxic to animals, so be sure to check if the plant is safe for your pets.  We're trying to keep down the stress here!

Scents

Along with greenery, scents can also assist in reducing stress, or changing your mood altogether.  Lavender is known for its relaxing abilities.  Imagine living on the farm!  Read about the Victoria's Lavender.  The family grows lavender and also produces their own lavender products.

Hugging

The benefits of hugging date back to our days in-utero.  We wrap babies, co-sleep, practice skin-to-skin with babies.  As we grow into adulthood, that need does not change.  Even hugging a pillow or blanket or pet reduces stress and blood pressure and heart rate.

Conclusion

With lifestyles that insist on always moving and doing and going and scrolling and, and, and....the list goes on, reducing stress consists of simply stopping and being.  Take that in, and then meditate on it.
