While this month we tote the importance of eco-friendly living, the transparency with which some of these companies practice surpasses that of companies that do not.
Most of the companies found to be eco-friendly and sustainable, listed the suppliers and origins of the end-products. Other topics included fabrics, fair wages, benefits, working conditions, packaging, energy and water usage, and emissions reports.
This type of transparency lacks in the Mission Statements of other companies not touting the sustainable claim. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that a product be "all or virtually all" made in the USA. The percentage of the product that is made in the USA appears in few websites.
The conversation has to start somewhere and change does not happen overnight. The companies listed here have started the conversation. Stop by and keep the conversation going.
1. Whimsy & Row
2. Lovanie
Lovanie's Sofia dress is made from 100% organic cotton. The empire waist is quite forgiving and the ruffled sleeves add a whimsiness. That is a lovely combination for a summer dress.
The cotton used is leftover from other manufacturers and comes from a supplier in CA.
3. Groceries Apparel
Groceries Apparel created this Eucalyptus dress from Eucalyptus fiber, giving it a soft and comfortable feel. The dress is made locally in Los Angeles.
4. Groceries Apparel
Another Groceries Apparel creation, this tunic is made from 100% organic cotton and locally, in Los Angeles. Made without bleach, the organic cotton feels soft and lasts a long time.
5. Field Day

They believe no dress is complete without pockets. This Ivy Dress is no different. It is a double wrap-around dress, allowing for fluctuations in size.
Conclusion
Finding eco-friendly dresses made in the USA may pose a challenge, but with challenge comes change.
☝How will YOU be part of the change?
Always remember: Nobody appreciates you and your business more than the people behind the made in the USA name!
